What to wear to your headshot session

So it’s time to update your headshot! Here are a few things to consider:

1) LOCATION

  • If you will be in front of a light background stay away from white/cream/ivory clothes. If you will be in front of a dark background then avoid black/dark grey/navy.

  • If you are unsure of the backdrop please ask your employer or me.

2) OUTFIT

  • If your employer or job field is more corporate you should wear business professional clothes but if it is a more relaxed setting business casual is welcome.

  • Solid color photographs best but if you want to wear a print just make sure it is simple.

  • For women: Jewel tones always photograph well - think emerald, ruby, deep blue, etc…

  • For men: a blue suit is always safe and black suits look great with a white back ground. If you are doing a button down for business causal please refrain from plaid/gingham.

  • Wear clothes that fit well - shirt that are too baggy will make you appear larger.

  • If you are unsure about your outfit feel free to bring a couple options.

3) MISC

  • For women: Apply your makeup 50% heavier than normal as the camera takes away a lot of makeup. Feel free to bring powder and lip color to touch up!

  • Please iron out any wrinkles!

  • Avoid logos on shirts
